Twist it up

12 Sep

Hello Glamourites,

It’s the end of summer and everyone is slowly getting back to reality with normal school/work routines. I know for me this can sometimes mean I’m feeling a bit rushed or even a tad lazy as I try to get used to the fall routine again. This is why braids are the best hairstyle. There are countless different looks and styles that you can create that won’t take too much time out of your morning. I have only experimented with a few, but there are so many pictures out there that I still want to try. Here are a few that I find straightforward to do, but it will still give you a fun and put together look!

frenchbriadhybrid

French Braid Hybrid    ~ Start by french braiding your hair, then switch to a normal braid for two turns, then French braid again. Alternate between the two braids until you reach the end of your hair. Thanks Byrdie for the pic!

briadknot

Connect The Braids   ~ This is good for when you wake up and don’t have that extra time to shower and get your hair clean and silky.  Braid a piece from each side of your head, stop where they meet in the back, and tie them together.

SideBraid

Side Braid    ~ Start to french braid from the bang section down, keeping it as close to your face as possible. Continue to add small sections to your braid until you reach your neck, then add the rest of your hair into the three sections evenly. Most important is the last step which is to loosen the braid! Thanks Treasures & Travel!

BraidCrown

Braid Crown    ~ My FAVOURITE. You can choose how much hair you want left hanging or put it all up. You can do any size of braid and it is such a statement look.

Make Easter Easy!

3 Apr

Hello Glamourites,

I hope everyone has been enjoying the first two weeks of spring and been getting some warmer weather to enjoy. I have found some great Easter inspiration for baking and decorating ideas that are very quick to do with little cost. I hope everyone has a wonderful long weekend! Happy Easter xx Glamour Planner

I love this bunny butt sugar cookie idea, it’s as easy as making different shaped ovals and adding icing!Easter

If you are hosting an Easter dinner or brunch you can get creative with your place cards and add them to cute mini easter baskets like these with some chocolate eggs.

Easter4

For a centrepiece take two sizes of vases and between the two add easter eggs, jellybeans, chocolate eggs or anything colourful  to add to the easter theme!

Easter5

Another easy dessert or snack to try is making rice krispie treats but in the form of a carrot then covering them with icing or a candy orange glaze. Thanks to Frugal Coupon Living for the idea!

Easter2

Adding a simple tulip to your guests plate makes a world of a difference and makes them feel special!

Easter3

Grad some old birthday confetti and shape it into a nest and put an egg in the middle, voila, instant table decor done!

Green for Spring

10 Mar

Hello Glamourites,

I got a little too excited yesterday when the temperature outside went above 0 degrees! I know that’s definitely not anywhere near to being a warm spring day, but it is a big improvement from negative 26 with wind chill. In getting excited about spring being around the corner, I started brainstorming ways to lighten up your home by adding a fresh feel. This can easily be done by putting a new coat of paint on the wall, reupholstering furniture, spray painting wooden chairs or even buying some new plants. Green is the perfect colour in many ways; it is known as the colour of balance and harmony and of course is the symbol of regrowth or spring. I hope it is warming up wherever you are and you get a chance to add some green to your house!

Put it up

6 Mar

Hello Glamourites,

It’s friday! That means you have no reason to not be happy today, okay unless you work weekends, but I still hope you all have some fun things planned. During the winter season I find I get really bored with my hair and it’s gets hard to style because as soon as I get outside it’s wrecked from the snow or my toque. I’ve tried new ways of putting my hair up in a ponytail or braid and adding my own twist on the look. Here are some inspiration pictures I’ve used and some new ones I will be attempting to try. Let me know what your “go to” hair do is!

xx Glamour Planner

Add some drama to the ordinary pony by teasing the hair like crazy!throwitup

This is a half fishtail braid which is quick to do and leaves some hair hanging if you don’t want it all up.

throwitup3

The classic ponytail with a statement accessory; I still need to find something like this!

throwitup2

Start with a side braid bringing it to the back and into a loose bun for a casual errand day.

throwitup4

Don’t think you have to pull out the straightener and blow dryer to prep for your early meeting; put your hair in a low bun that still looks professional.

Happy Weekend Glamourites!

I realized I have been posting mainly fashion topics the past few weeks, probably because there has been lots happening in the fashion world, however I wanted to change it up. I found this recipe a week or so ago and have been dying to try it myself but haven’t had the time – hopefully this weekend! If you like goat cheese, and I know I will eat it on anything, then you will love this chicken dish. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and try something new in the kitchen or out of the kitchen!

Oscars 2015 Red Carpet

23 Feb

Morning Glamourites,

Last night was the 87th Academy Awards where many actors and movies were recognized for their hard work and success. Some of the winners included, Birdman for Best Picture, Julianna Moore for Best Actress in Still Alice, Eddie Redmayne for Best Actor in The Theory of Everything, J.K. Simmons for Best Supporting Actor in Whiplash and John Legend and Common won Best Original Song for “Glory” from Selma. Besides all the golden Oscar awards that were given out, there were countless stunning gowns on the red carpet, which is really what we what to know all about! There were many dresses in bold statement colours such as Rosamund Pike in a Givenchy red gown and Scarlett Johnansson in an emerald Versace dress. Both were popular colours of the evening but not THE trend of the night; this, however, was light shades, from pure white to bronze nude tones. I put together a collection of my picks from last night for you to browse and enjoy xx Glamour Planner

Gwyneth Paltrow in a pale pink Ralph & Russo fitted gown, obsessed with the rose shoulder!

Lupita Nyong’o wearing a custom Calvin Klein with over 6000 pearls!

Kerry Washington wearing Miu Miu with a sophisticated and elegant shape.

Emma Stone wasn’t exactly in white but looked absolutely stunning in an Elie Saab chartreuse shade dress which could be the most talked about fashion piece last night.

Oscars2015Emma

Reese Witherspoon in a custom Tom Ford dress – hugs her body perfectly!

Oscars2015Reese

Oh J-Lo, always giving us something to talk about…and last night was no exception for her fashion choice. Her Elie Saab sparkly nude dress with a plunging neckline probably had more material then all the other dresses combined, it proved to be a challenge walking off stage but she pulled it off.

Had to share a funny picture with you all from last night of tight embrace between Emma and Jennifer Aniston who was wearing Atelier Versace.
