Make Easter Easy!

3 Apr

Hello Glamourites,

I hope everyone has been enjoying the first two weeks of spring and been getting some warmer weather to enjoy. I have found some great Easter inspiration for baking and decorating ideas that are very quick to do with little cost. I hope everyone has a wonderful long weekend! Happy Easter xx Glamour Planner

I love this bunny butt sugar cookie idea, it’s as easy as making different shaped ovals and adding icing!Easter

If you are hosting an Easter dinner or brunch you can get creative with your place cards and add them to cute mini easter baskets like these with some chocolate eggs.

Easter4

For a centrepiece take two sizes of vases and between the two add easter eggs, jellybeans, chocolate eggs or anything colourful  to add to the easter theme!

Easter5

Another easy dessert or snack to try is making rice krispie treats but in the form of a carrot then covering them with icing or a candy orange glaze. Thanks to Frugal Coupon Living for the idea!

Adding a simple tulip to your guests plate makes a world of a difference and makes them feel special!

Grad some old birthday confetti and shape it into a nest and put an egg in the middle, voila, instant table decor done!

The Vintage S’more

23 May

Hello Glamourites!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful and beautiful May, I love that spring is finally here! If you are starting to crave some of those roasted s’mores by the fire here is an easy recipe for you to make at home! Follow the recipe below and treat yourself this weekend 🙂 xx Glamour Planner

SmoreIngredients:

  • 6 gluten free graham cookies (roughly 1 Cup crushed/pulsed in food processor into crumbs). If you don’t have any, use 1 cup of gluten free quick oats, or 1 cup regular graham crumbs.
  • 2/3 Cup unsweetened shredded coconut
  • 1/3 Cup butter, melted
  • 1 Egg white
  • 1 Jar marshmallow fluff
  • 3 1/2 Cups chocolate chips
  • 1 Tbsp butter

Method:
1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F

2. Grease the short ends of a a 9×13 baking pan with butter, then line the pan with parchment, leaving “handles” hanging over the long ends. Set aside

3.In a medium sized bowl combine the cookie crumbs (or oats), coconut, melted butter and egg white. Press into the prepared baking pan.

4. Bake for 19-21 minutes, until you have a nice golden colour.

5. As the bottom bakes, place the chocolate chips and 1 tbsp of butter into a sauce pan, or in a microwavable bowl, and warm (stirring every so often) until melted and smooth. Let cool slightly.

6. Just before the bottom is done baking, warm the mallow fluff, either by warming it in it’s jar in the microwave (with the lid and protective seal removed), or by emptying the fluff into a small sauce pan on the stove and warming.

7. When the bottom is finished baking, take it out of the oven, and place it onto a cooling rack. Plop down blobs of the marshmallow fluff over the base, then gently spread around to cover it.

8. Drizzle the melted (and slightly cooled) chocolate over the marshmallow fluff, and very gently spread around.

9. Leave this to set in the fridge for about 2 hours. Then, take it out of the fridge and allow to soften oh so slightly (the chocolate top can be tricky to cut without smoooshing the mallow fluff out. I keep thinking that if you score the top after it’s starting to set in the fridge {maybe after an hour?|, that it would really make cutting them easier). Using a hot knife, cut into squares and devour! Or share with others if you must….

Let the Vitamin D in!

8 May

Hi Glamourites!

The weather the past few days has been absolutely beautiful and all I wanted to do was be outside enjoying the sunshine! If you are stuck inside doing work but you still want to enjoy those sunny days….the answer, windows!! I could not live in a house that doesn’t have any windows {or few of them}. I love to have natural light at all times and a beautiful view doesn’t hurt either. Here are some homes where they have incorporated lots of windows perfectly into the design. Let me know if you like xx Glamour Planner

Eating breakfast on a Monday morning at this table you couldn’t help but smile looking out.WindowsTable

In the bathroom it is incredibly important to have natural light for applying makeup. Often we will put on too much foundation or bronzer because we don’t have the correct lighting and when you leave the house it turns out you look like a cake!

WindowsBathroom

Sometimes cooking dinner can be a pain but when you have skylights or big windows to fill your kitchen with vitamin D it makes the job much more enjoyable!

WindowsKitchen

Okay I know you don’t want the sunrise waking you up at 5:30 in the morning which is why they invented curtains…but windows in the bedroom can be amazing and create a special place for you to wake up. Imagine how peaceful this setting would be as you great ready for bed or just want some quiet time to yourself?

WindowsBedroom

Of course windows anywhere in the house work perfectly, especially where you will be entertaining guests. It’s a great way to show off your home and where you live!

Make it Unique

11 Aug

Hello Glamourites,

It has been a busy, busy week as I have been volunteering at a kid’s camp – lots of fun but very tiring. I am home now and ready to get back to writing some posts! I know people are always trying to come up with the next big trend or most unique aspect to their wedding. Here are some creative ideas (I thought) that are a little out of the norm and are fairly easy as well. Tell me your latest wedding inspiration xx Glamour Planner

Well first of all, this little boy is adorable, and how easy would it be make this heart-shaped chalkboard sign and write a simple phrase like this. Too cute to handle.
MakeitUnique|signFor guests or wedding party gifts you can create a little book that flips through a 10-30 second video clip from the wedding. You can get this done at many wedsites such as http://www.flipclips.com/
MakeitUnique|bookI couldn’t resist posting this dress train as the detailing, the buttons and the pattern of the lace is just gorgeous and one-of-a-kind.
MakeitUnique|dresstrainWe girls know how much we love our shoes so why not make them the focus of some of the pictures? This adds for a touch of mystery in the photo and also allows you to show off your great heels.
MakeitUnique|shoesSilhouette shots have been and will always be classic. Stunning and dramatic.
MakeitUnique|silhoueteeA little advice from me; a dream and a purpose are key.

The Triple Threat

31 Jul

Hi all Glamourites!

I figured after all this time I should finally post some of my own pictures from an event I recently held.  I must also give my Mom a lot of the credit (food & decor purchasing) for this particular party but we work well together throwing fun gatherings for friends and family! For this evening we went with the “Triple Treat” theme being WINE, CHEESE & CHOCOLATE. How can you go wrong with that? Here are some pictures of our food table and decorations. Hope you enjoy and are inspired to do some entertaining of your own  xx Glamour Planner

IMG_1523I have seen this done in magazine’s and on Pinterest of course…using wine bottles as individual vases for flowers. I wanted to spray paint them but ran out of time and in the end, I like the natural uniqueness of each bottle. It also suited our “Wine,Cheese & Chocolate” theme.

DSC_0654The entrance: one of THE most important parts of an event. This is where your guests get the first impression of what they have to expect and also what will stick most in their mind. We found some adorable chocolate/dessert paintings, more books on chocolate and fun accent gift baskets to line the staircase as our guests entered the house.

Dark Chocolate Tart with Blackberries and Hazelnut Praline

Chocolate Filling:

700mls cream
700g dark chocolate, chopped

Pastry:

2 cups flour
1 Tbsp dark cocoa powder
pinch of salt
1/4 cup caster sugar
150g cold butter, chopped into cubes
2-3 Tbsp iced water

Hazelnut Praline:

11/2 cups hazelnuts
200g sugar
3 tablespoons water
To serve:
2 cups fresh blackberries
200ml cream, softly whipped

Chocolate Filling:

Heat cream in a microwave or pot until almost boiling. Add chocolate and whisk until smooth. (It may need a tiny bit of extra gentle heating to melt fully). Cool for 15 minutes, then pour into pastry shell.

Pastry:

Whizz flour, cocoa, salt and sugar in a food processor. Drop in butter and pulse until mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Slowly add iced water and pulse until mixture forms big clumps. Tip onto the bench and squish together. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for half an hour. Preheat oven to 180˚C (350˚F).  Roll pastry out between two sheets of baking paper and line the base and sides of a 26cm tart tin. Pop in the freezer for 15 minutes. Cut out a circle of baking paper slightly bigger than the tart tin, and put in pastry case. Fill with baking beans or rice and cook for 12 minutes, remove baking paper and baking beans and cook a further 10 minutes. Pour in filling, and allow to set a little (for about 15 minutes) then refrigerate for at least six hours before serving. Top with blackberries and crumbled praline and serve with whipped cream and extra berries – and good quality vanilla bean ice cream!

Hazelnut Praline:

Preheat oven to 180˚C (350˚F) and put hazelnuts on a baking tray. Put a square of baking paper on a dinner plate ready for praline. Bake hazelnuts for 10 minutes until fragrant and colored. Remove from the oven and rub the hazelnuts between a folded tea-towel to remove the bitter skins (as much as possible). Heat the sugar and water together in a medium size, heavy based saucepan. Cook over medium heat without stirring, until the sugar has dissolved and

caramelised, turning a rich golden colour. The amount of time varies but can be more than 5 minutes. Keep an eagle eye on the caramel so that you don’t miss the magical point between golden and rich, and black and bitter. As soon as you have a golden amber liquid tip in the hazelnuts and coat in caramel. Quickly pour onto the baking paper and leave to set. Caution: do not put your fingers any where near the caramel, it is viciously hot! Once praline is cold you can whizz it in a blender or smash it into chunks with the end of a rolling pin – up to you whether you like your praline chunky or fine!
