Grammys // 2015

8 Feb

Hello Glamourites,

If you didn’t watch the 57th annual Grammy Awards tonight, (or want a recap) I have for you the best dressed, worst dressed, trending colours and makeup looks for you! There are many stars who attend this evening and it is hard to pick out a select few from all the gorgeous gowns and suits! Take note, I would have included many more if I wanted to make this post similar to a novel.

xx Glamour Planner

BEST

I am coming from a very non-basis corner as I am not one of the screaming T-swift fans, however I fell immediately in love with her dress choice tonight! Her teal gown designed by Elie Saab was both sophisticated, edgy and classic with the window front showing off her legs and Giuseppe Zanotti fuchsia heels. The matching Lorraine Schwartz earrings in an aqua shade made her blue eyes jump out!

Katy ALWAYS puts her own twist into every look and this one is no different. I am happy that she didn’t go for the complete shock factor but still stood out with a semi-nude dress with glitter fringes, saying she “just wanted to shine bright like a diamond” jokingly to Ryan Seacrest. Adding to this she had statement chandelier earrings and her beautiful lavender hair.Grammys3

Ciara is typically not on my radar but tonight she most certainly was. She wore a one-shoulder ruffled gown by Alexandre Vauthier made with sheer black material creating a draping train.  Grammys

Chrissy Teigen looked stunning in a fitted Gucci gown with subtle cutouts from top to bottom. She a definition of a fashionista! Grammys7

MAKEUP

Trending makeup this year at the Grammys generally was very understated in natural style, which I appreciated and found much more beautiful than being caked in products.

Beyonce showcases this beauty look perfectly, as Queen B only would. She looked fresh, bright and truly like a natural goddess! She was dressed in a custom black Proenza Schouler gown. Grammys5

Gwen also followed this trend with a clean face, simple tinted lip gloss to allow her dramatic jumpsuit by Atelier Versace to be the focus.

TRY AGAIN

Rihanna, I’m sorry, I respect your style but unfortunately this dress I cannot deal with. ri

Iggy you were on point with your Armani Privé dress in the popular blue tonight but the hair needs something different. This just reminds me of a birds nest. Grammys6

COLOURS

To finish up it’s Pharrell in Adidas who is following with the influencing colours of the night including black, blue shades and white. To mention a few in black gowns this year was, Nicki Minaj, Miley Cyrus, Meghan Trainor, Jessie J, Kelly Osbourne and many others.  Grammys8

Sorry, my bad

17 Dec

Hello Glamourites,

My SINCEREST apologies, I’m not sure how it happened put my last semester at school somehow took up all my time! I promise to be more diligent from now on and some new years resolutions will soon be made.

I hope you all have had a wonderful fall season and are looking forward to Christmas. I know I am!!! Here are some of my favourite things to look forward to while I am home for the holidays…

sorry_sleepThe best thing about coming home after a long school semester or working is sleep. Looking forward to having no pounding alarm waking you from your peaceful slumber and being able to roll over and keep sleeping.

sorry_eatingFOOD! As a student I don’t have the biggest budget when I am away to spend on groceries which makes it extremely exciting to come home and see a fridge full of goodies. Plus all the amazing home cooked meals and luxurious holiday meals.

sorry_readingHaving time to actually read for pleasure is pure bliss. Sitting down with a good book and hot chocolate in front of the fire and losing yourself in the story takes all your problems away.

sorry_dressupAs a girl I absolutely love to dress up and Christmas is the best season for pulling out that sparkle dress and getting your heels on! It is a time where everyone has an excuse to throw a party and share the holiday cheer!

sorry_farmily My family always brings a smile to my face whatever mood I may be in and it is amazing to be surrounded by them through the whole holiday season ❤

The Vintage S’more

23 May

Hello Glamourites!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful and beautiful May, I love that spring is finally here! If you are starting to crave some of those roasted s’mores by the fire here is an easy recipe for you to make at home! Follow the recipe below and treat yourself this weekend 🙂 xx Glamour Planner

SmoreIngredients:

  • 6 gluten free graham cookies (roughly 1 Cup crushed/pulsed in food processor into crumbs). If you don’t have any, use 1 cup of gluten free quick oats, or 1 cup regular graham crumbs.
  • 2/3 Cup unsweetened shredded coconut
  • 1/3 Cup butter, melted
  • 1 Egg white
  • 1 Jar marshmallow fluff
  • 3 1/2 Cups chocolate chips
  • 1 Tbsp butter

Method:
1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F

2. Grease the short ends of a a 9×13 baking pan with butter, then line the pan with parchment, leaving “handles” hanging over the long ends. Set aside

3.In a medium sized bowl combine the cookie crumbs (or oats), coconut, melted butter and egg white. Press into the prepared baking pan.

4. Bake for 19-21 minutes, until you have a nice golden colour.

5. As the bottom bakes, place the chocolate chips and 1 tbsp of butter into a sauce pan, or in a microwavable bowl, and warm (stirring every so often) until melted and smooth. Let cool slightly.

6. Just before the bottom is done baking, warm the mallow fluff, either by warming it in it’s jar in the microwave (with the lid and protective seal removed), or by emptying the fluff into a small sauce pan on the stove and warming.

7. When the bottom is finished baking, take it out of the oven, and place it onto a cooling rack. Plop down blobs of the marshmallow fluff over the base, then gently spread around to cover it.

8. Drizzle the melted (and slightly cooled) chocolate over the marshmallow fluff, and very gently spread around.

9. Leave this to set in the fridge for about 2 hours. Then, take it out of the fridge and allow to soften oh so slightly (the chocolate top can be tricky to cut without smoooshing the mallow fluff out. I keep thinking that if you score the top after it’s starting to set in the fridge {maybe after an hour?|, that it would really make cutting them easier). Using a hot knife, cut into squares and devour! Or share with others if you must….

Savoury Pumpkin

13 Oct

Hello Glamourites,

I hope everyone is having an enjoyable and relaxing thanksgiving weekend {here in Canada anyways}! The one thing I do love about fall is to see all the colours changing in nature with the trees turning all colours of red, orange and yellow. Along with all that we get to curl up inside and drink hot chocolate, eat soup and start to get used to the chilly weather coming. Here is a recipe I found for a Pumpkin Curry Soup thanks to Wine and Glue blog, thanks! Happy Thanksgiving everyone xx Glamour Planner

pumpkinsoup2

Pumpkin Curry Soup

  • 1 small baking pumpkin
  • 2 TBSP butter
  • 1 pound of carrots, peeled and cut into circles
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 1 – 1 1/2 TBSP curry powder (the more you add the more spicy it will be)
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp ground coriander
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups of chicken stock
  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.  Cut the pumpkin in half, remove the seeds, and place each side flesh side down on a parchment (or aluminum foil or silpat) lined baking sheet.  Bake 50 minutes or until you are able to easily slide a skewer in and out of the pumpkin.  After the pumpkin has cooked, scoop out the pumpkin and set aside.
  2. Melt the butter in a large soup pot over medium heat.  Add the carrots and onions and sauté until the onions are nearly translucent and the carrots have softened, about 10 minutes.
  3. Add the pumpkin and stir into the cooking veggies.
  4. Add the curry powder, ginger, and coriander and sauté for an additional minute or two.
  5. Stir in the chicken stock, scraping up the browned bits from the bottom of the pan.  Bring the stock to a boil and then reduce to the heat to low, cover, and let simmer for 30 minutes.
  6. At the end of the 30 minutes, remove the soup from the heat, and using an immersion blender (or working in batches using a blender or food processor) to blend the soup until smooth.
  7. Top with  Croutons

Good Old Homemade

1 Oct

Hello Glamourites!

There are so many baking recipes on my wish list to make but I never seen to have the time or enough people who will eat it all! One thing I always find intriguing was trying to make my own homemade ice cream. Ice cream is something everyone likes and there are so many different and unique flavours you can create. I suppose it makes sense to start off with the basic good old vanilla ice cream, which don’t get me wrong I still love! Have any of you tried making ice cream and what neat flavours? xx Glamour Planner                                                   Thanks for the recipe to Fool Proof Living!

Vanilla-Bean-Ice-cream-1656-FL

Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream

Ingredients

  • 1 vanilla bean, split in half lengthwise
  • 1 ¾ cups heavy cream
  • 1 ¼ cups whole milk
  • ½ cup granulated sugar – divided
  • ⅓ cup light corn syrup
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 6 large egg yolks

Instructions

  1. Place the heavy cream, vanilla bean, seeds, milk, corn syrup and ¼ cup of sugar in a saucepan. Heat it over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until it registers 175 °F, 9-10 minutes. Remove it from the heat.
  2. Whisk egg yolks and ¼ cup of sugar in bowl until smooth.
  3. Slowly whisk 1 cup of the hot milk mixture in to the egg yolk mixture. (If you do it fast you may end up with cooked eggs.)
  4. Return mixture in to the pan and heat it, stirring constantly, until it thickens and reaches to 180 °F. This takes less than 10 minutes.
  5. Pour the hot mixture into a glass bowl and let it cool outside, until it is no longer steaming.
  6. Place 1 cup of the mixture into a small bowl.
  7. Cover both bowls with stretch film.
  8. Place the reserved 1-cup mixture in freezer and the other bowl in refrigerator. Let it cool for at least for 4 hours or overnight.
  9. Remove them from freezer and refrigerator. Scrape the frozen custard mixture into the custard in the big bowl. Stir it until it completely dissolves.
  10. Strain this custard through a fine-mash strainer. Transfer in to the bowl of the ice cream maker.
  11. Churn it until it registers 21 °F, for 20-25 minutes.
  12. Transfer it to an airtight container. Press firmly to remove any air pockets. Place it in the freezer and freeze it until it is firm, at least 4 hours.
  13. Take it out 5 – 10 minutes before serving to make it easily “scoopable”

Hi Glamourites,

Louboutin Nutella Cups

19 Sep

Hi my glamourites!

You know when you just have one of those cravings, the one where you just can’t shake, no matter what else you eat or even if you have a little bit of it, you still want more. Well that has been me with Nutella this week! Almost every evening I have been reaching for that jar and finding anything I can to dip into it or spread it onto. I stumbled upon this recipe through foodgawker (my fave food site ever) from a blog called The Baking Robot which I thought was very cute site! This recipe looks almost too pretty and colourful to eat but also that it would be absolutely delicious! Be perfect for Valentine’s Day dessert, but that’s a while away. Check it out xx Glamour Planner

ombrenutellacups001

ombrenutellacups005Ombre Nutella Cups

1/2 cup Nutella
3/4 cup powdered sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
1-1/2 tbsp milk
red candy melts
pink candy melts
white candy melts

Directions

1. Line a mini muffin tin with mini cupcake liners. Set aside.

2. In a medium-sized bowl, mix together Nutella and powdered sugar. Stir in vanilla extract. Add milk slowly until you get a consistency that you can work with your fingers and roll into balls. (At this point, you can add more powdered sugar or milk to get your desired consistency. I made a more wet mixture for a creamy filling but it was more difficult to work with.)

3. In three separate bowls, microwave all three candy melts individually in thirty-second intervals, stirring in between, until completely smooth. (I melted about five handfuls of each color.) Spoon the melted red candy first into the bottom of the cupcake liner, shaking the muffin tin as needed to distribute and spread the candy evenly. Repeat with the pink candy melts, spooning and spreading evenly on top of the red.

4. Take about 3/4 – 1 teaspoon of the Nutella filling and drop into the center of the cups. Cover with the melted white candy until flush with the tops of the liners. Decorate with sprinkles and refrigerate until completely chilled and hardened.
