Eat Here!

7 Oct

Hello Glamourites,

Been a busy and fun-filled weekend for me topped with LOTS of eating. Food has got to be one of my favourite things in this world, I really wish I could eat all day and not gain weight haha I know, not possible. All this got me thinking about kitchens, this is where all the food prep happens, eating and when parties are happening people always seem to gather in the kitchen. It’s a central area and always seems to be where the hub of the home is. Here are some differently styles of kitchens that got me thinking about my dream kitchen xx Glamour Planner

Hi Glamourites,

My apologies for not posting lately at all, I have been sick in bed for the the past three days and barely able to much of anything. As you know one of my passions is wedding planning and am always on the lookout for the latest trend or unique way of doing it your special way. Here are some examples of “Save The Date” cards that are a little different than the norm. Enjoy xx Glamour Planner

Hello Glamourites,

Now that (unfortunately) summer is coming to the end, it’s time to start eating healthy again. It’s always too easy during the summer months to get off track with good eating habits as we’re busy enjoying those BBQs, margaritas, ice cream & parties. Here is a refreshing and unique salad recipe to work your way back to healthy eating; don’t forget to use fresh blackberries which are in season now. Credit to A House in the Hills blog for the recipe! xx Glamour Planner

INGREDIENTS:

3 1/2 cups micro arugula

1 cup blackberries (ripe and sweet!)

2 tablespoons pine nuts

1 ear red corn, cut off the cob

1/2 bunch white asparagus

2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

1 tablespoon red wine vinegar

1 clove of garlic, pressed

2 tablespoons chopped caper berries (stems removed)

1 1/2 tablespoons of mint, finely chopped

sea salt

black pepper

METHOD:

– Rinse and dry microgreens.  Set aside.

– In a small mixing bowl combine olive oil, red wine vinegar, mint, garlic, chopped caper berries and a pinch of salt.  Place in refrigerator until ready to serve.

– Trim ends off of asparagus (I trimmed a good 1 1/2- 2 inches off of mine to get to the softest part).  Lightly coat spears with olive oil and cook on medium heat over a grill pan or on your grill until seared to your preference. Sprinkle lightly with sea salt and pepper.  Cut into 1/2 inch pieces.

– Assemble the salad by combining microgreens, corn, asparagus, blackberries and pine nuts in a large bowl.  Add salad dressing (recipe makes enough for some leftovers, depending on preference).  Toss well and serve immediately!

Clever TYpE

20 Aug

Hello Glamourites,

Over the summer I have found some unique and different types of typography and clever ways of writing certain words. I find it interesting when you see a word look out of the ordinary but the meaning still makes sense in your brain. We use words and letters all the time and it’s fun to spice them up and view them in an offbeat way. I will definitely be stealing some of these inspirations for my designs next year! xx Glamour Planner

Make it Unique

11 Aug

Hello Glamourites,

It has been a busy, busy week as I have been volunteering at a kid’s camp – lots of fun but very tiring. I am home now and ready to get back to writing some posts! I know people are always trying to come up with the next big trend or most unique aspect to their wedding. Here are some creative ideas (I thought) that are a little out of the norm and are fairly easy as well. Tell me your latest wedding inspiration xx Glamour Planner

Well first of all, this little boy is adorable, and how easy would it be make this heart-shaped chalkboard sign and write a simple phrase like this. Too cute to handle.
MakeitUnique|signFor guests or wedding party gifts you can create a little book that flips through a 10-30 second video clip from the wedding. You can get this done at many wedsites such as http://www.flipclips.com/
MakeitUnique|bookI couldn’t resist posting this dress train as the detailing, the buttons and the pattern of the lace is just gorgeous and one-of-a-kind.
MakeitUnique|dresstrainWe girls know how much we love our shoes so why not make them the focus of some of the pictures? This adds for a touch of mystery in the photo and also allows you to show off your great heels.
MakeitUnique|shoesSilhouette shots have been and will always be classic. Stunning and dramatic.
MakeitUnique|silhoueteeA little advice from me; a dream and a purpose are key.

Back in the day….

20 Jul

Back in the day when a tea break meant a major house production with fresh table linens, 5 piece cutlery, the finest of baked goods, and of course, your prettiest afternoon gown. While watching my new favourite show, Downton Abbey I am surprised how everything is taken very seriously and carried out with such perfection! That sort of formal attention to detail doesn’t seem to exist now-a-days and often the little things are not given the same consideration they used to.  For instance, when one of the gentlemen from the show wore the wrong dinner jacket for supper, it was evident that this was a faux pas. Sometimes I think I would enjoy that attention to detail; ensuring that every little piece was picture perfect when preparing a meal, setting the table, making a bed or even shining the silver. This show puts me in the mood to go back in time and experience it all first hand, which I realize is obviously not possible! However it does inspire me to try and accomplish the feel by throwing a Downton Abbey tea or dinner party! Here are some picture inspirations I found that may help to recreate a similar atmosphere.

Let me know if you give it a go. xx Glamour Planner

I only wish I could eat dinner like this every evening: silver candelabras, 4 different drinking glasses, individual salt and pepper, and of course, the delight of being served so graciously! I could go on!

Here is some fashion inspiration from Lissa Alexandra Photography on a shoot for vintage weddings but these dresses would also be adorable for an afternoon tea.

downton-abbey-wedding-theme-edwardian-inspiration-29Making simple pretty additions, such as custom name coasters or name tags for place settings makes it feel that much more important.

I couldn’t resist posting theses adorable “Downton Abbey” style sugar cookies, I can’t image the time it took to make them but they would be ideal for an afternoon tea!

downtonabbeycookiesThis elegant table display looks just perfect if you are thinking of hosting your own garden tea party. The floral runner down the centre of the table and draping over to hit the ground adds a unique piece.

Do you Ombre?

12 Jul

Hello my Glamourites!

My obsession with ombre started last fall when I decided I wanted to try something new and different with my hair so I tried the dark to blonde ombre. I loved it too – it was fun and I found I could do many styles with it to transform my look. Naturally I am now drawn to ombre inspiration detailing or themes which leads me to this party idea of ombre! It’s more unique then just picking a colour or two to stick with but using one and playing on the different shades and adding more dimension. Hope you enjoy these pictures and maybe give you some guidance for your next party.

xx Glamour Planner

How easy would this be, grab 3 or 4 different shades of balloons and place them in a fading order around the party. Adds a new element to just boring balloons.

ombreballoonsA beautiful ombre cake….can’t go wrong with anything that pretty and yummy!ombrecake2
Here is a much simpler ombre cake version that you could even make at home yourself if you didn’t want to spend a ton of extra money.ombrecake

Of course you always have to have a party dress that fits the occasion! This gown is stunning with the fitted top and ruffling down into lighter shades.

Good Evening Glamourites!

Here are some of my favourite pins from this week and also some awesome style inspirations that I want to dive into this summer! I find that in the summer months it’s a time where you can explore new fashion trends and add that extra pop and it doesn’t seem out of the ordinary. The next time you’re out shopping go a little out of your comfort zone and you might like it and surprise yourself. Thanks for taking a look xx

I would consider  jean shorts the “little black dress” of summer…you can not have enough! These  ones in particular have a vintage feel with the high waisted fit as well as washed colouring. There are similar shorts you can find at Levi’s here: http://us.levi.com/product/index.jsp?productId=19660826&&cp=3146849.3146909.4011526.19564916 ONLY $48

~WHITE

Speaking of dresses…this white dress is the perfect mix of short and long, sparkle but conservative with the long sleeves and daring scooped back. I would wear this to a fun BBQ with the girls or an outdoor luncheon with the family. There are some great options at Topshop for your own style, possibly this one: http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=1&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=33057&storeId=12556&productId=10402652&langId=-1&sort_field=Relevance&categoryId=208523&parent_categoryId=203984&pageSize=2000&refinements=Colour{1}~[white]&noOfRefinements=1
