Savoury Pumpkin

13 Oct

Hello Glamourites,

I hope everyone is having an enjoyable and relaxing thanksgiving weekend {here in Canada anyways}! The one thing I do love about fall is to see all the colours changing in nature with the trees turning all colours of red, orange and yellow. Along with all that we get to curl up inside and drink hot chocolate, eat soup and start to get used to the chilly weather coming. Here is a recipe I found for a Pumpkin Curry Soup thanks to Wine and Glue blog, thanks! Happy Thanksgiving everyone xx Glamour Planner

Pumpkin Curry Soup

  • 1 small baking pumpkin
  • 2 TBSP butter
  • 1 pound of carrots, peeled and cut into circles
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 1 – 1 1/2 TBSP curry powder (the more you add the more spicy it will be)
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp ground coriander
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups of chicken stock
  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.  Cut the pumpkin in half, remove the seeds, and place each side flesh side down on a parchment (or aluminum foil or silpat) lined baking sheet.  Bake 50 minutes or until you are able to easily slide a skewer in and out of the pumpkin.  After the pumpkin has cooked, scoop out the pumpkin and set aside.
  2. Melt the butter in a large soup pot over medium heat.  Add the carrots and onions and sauté until the onions are nearly translucent and the carrots have softened, about 10 minutes.
  3. Add the pumpkin and stir into the cooking veggies.
  4. Add the curry powder, ginger, and coriander and sauté for an additional minute or two.
  5. Stir in the chicken stock, scraping up the browned bits from the bottom of the pan.  Bring the stock to a boil and then reduce to the heat to low, cover, and let simmer for 30 minutes.
  6. At the end of the 30 minutes, remove the soup from the heat, and using an immersion blender (or working in batches using a blender or food processor) to blend the soup until smooth.
  7. Top with  Croutons

Focus In

2 Sep

Hello Glamourites!

Well the time has officially come….school starts again tomorrow! Which is why I have been very bad with any new posts the last little while, as I have been getting organized and packed. I’m still very unsure whether to be excited or dreading going back, I am excited for new school supplies, is that sad? Anyways back on topic, as my current theme is to be focused in on school and my studies I thought these design inspiration pics were well done as they focused in on a specific object or place of the room. Very helpful if you are waiting to showcase a art piece or part of architecture.

Hope the start to your September hasn’t been too difficult xx Glamour Planner

This wall feature is completely eye-catching and it adds texture to the space with minimal other materials. ddc91315a13e407954e5325bea09f60b

Wanting to highlight the bed but without a headboard or fancy bed frame this indented wall art does the trick. e2d9238154619a241fd5ffb0f0f5e370Using the grand chandelier creates that focus to the centre of the room drawing it away from the wall detailing.

The Climb

12 Aug

Good morning Glamourites,

It’s easy to become accustomed to the everyday things in life and soon we stop noticing their beauty. A good example of this would be stairs; a necessary object that helps us in most day to day activities to get to places. Here are some fabulous staircases that I think deserve to have some sincere recognition. Notice the detailing and thought behind the creation of these amazing stairs.

The ever-so-classical spiral staircase; always so enchanting to look up and see the winding stairs.

Vases of sunshine

3 Jun

Hi Glamourites,

With all this amazing weather we have been getting it seems only right to be bringing the sunshine inside as well. Making your own arrangement like these vases can be as complicated or as simple as you make it. They can be used on your everyday kitchen table, for a big dinner event and even parties to add some colour! Hope you enjoy my inspiration!

This example is super simple, pick up a bag of lemons at your grocery store and throw them into a vase of water and place your bouquet of sunflowers with it, so bright & happy!

I love the look of the limes cut-up and seeing the inside, the pattern adds neat sense of detailing.

As shown in the picture, this type of vase is much more party friendly because of the shape. It is tall and skinny which means it is easy to see around and does not block people vision. I would still have this on my kitchen table, so funky!
