Fresh + Clean

26 Jan

Hello Glamourites!

I hope everyone is having an enjoyable weekend and taking some down time to relax and recharge. My weekend has been fairly quiet but also with a little fun of course. It has been freezing here which doesn’t make it very enjoyable to leave the apartment. With it being January we are always reminded about new beginnings and starting fresh…I have taken that same outlook and applied it to design and possible room interiors. If we have a clean environment, it will rub off on us and encourage us to be the same way. Hope you get some inspiration from these pictures xx Glamour Planner

The contrast between bold and simple in this living space is ideal, the straight lines from the chair frames, circle table and window rectangles. Then the juxtaposition using the black and white to make a dramatic but while still clean atmosphere.

Fresh&Clean

This bedroom makes me feel I am taken back a few centuries. The detailing in the moulding and the bed posts are beautifully rich and gives this a pristine vintage look. Fresh&Clean3

For a smaller{ish} living room space this is made very grand, thanks mainly to the high ceiling which also allows too for the dramatic  chandelier. In this case, where the room is smaller and gets an abundant amount of natural light, having only black & white is perfect. Fresh&Clean2

On a smaller scale, an office desk can feel much more organized and clean if it has a neutral colour pallet. Also consistency for supplies and accessories helps with the visual aesthetic of the space.     Fresh&Clean4

The bathroom is a very important room as it is the first place you go after waking up. You want that room to make you feel fresh and therefore come across that way in the design. Here the simple lines and warm tones from the wood create a welcoming and awakening area.

BALLOONS

5 Sep

Hello Glamourites,

Balloons should be at every party whether it’s a kids party or a party for adults. It seems that we’ve always thought that balloons are only to be used for those under the age of 16 and after that other sophisticated decorating techniques are necessary.  Think again! Let’s tweak those balloons and make them  classy and appropriate for older gatherings. It is one of the easiest, quickest and most reasonably priced decor that you can use. Here are some innovative ideas to change up the every day balloon for your next event! xx Glamour Planner

This vintage look for the balloons is as simple as buying some tulle fabric and wrapping it up and finishing it off with any clasp or tie you choose.

Why not make the ceiling more eye catching by filling the entire space with balloons according to your party colours or just stick with neutral white. This creates an instant party feel.

For some outdoor or driveway decor create a special atmosphere by pinning the balloon strings down with golf tees or clips in the lawn. ac47715c4cff490fbf1c0e0d1fd8d856

Spice up simple floating balloons by attaching streamers or pompoms.

Back in the day….

20 Jul

Back in the day when a tea break meant a major house production with fresh table linens, 5 piece cutlery, the finest of baked goods, and of course, your prettiest afternoon gown. While watching my new favourite show, Downton Abbey I am surprised how everything is taken very seriously and carried out with such perfection! That sort of formal attention to detail doesn’t seem to exist now-a-days and often the little things are not given the same consideration they used to.  For instance, when one of the gentlemen from the show wore the wrong dinner jacket for supper, it was evident that this was a faux pas. Sometimes I think I would enjoy that attention to detail; ensuring that every little piece was picture perfect when preparing a meal, setting the table, making a bed or even shining the silver. This show puts me in the mood to go back in time and experience it all first hand, which I realize is obviously not possible! However it does inspire me to try and accomplish the feel by throwing a Downton Abbey tea or dinner party! Here are some picture inspirations I found that may help to recreate a similar atmosphere.

Let me know if you give it a go. xx Glamour Planner

I only wish I could eat dinner like this every evening: silver candelabras, 4 different drinking glasses, individual salt and pepper, and of course, the delight of being served so graciously! I could go on!

Here is some fashion inspiration from Lissa Alexandra Photography on a shoot for vintage weddings but these dresses would also be adorable for an afternoon tea.

I couldn’t resist posting theses adorable “Downton Abbey” style sugar cookies, I can’t image the time it took to make them but they would be ideal for an afternoon tea!

Afternoon Glamourites,

Today I’ve been thinking about how simple it is to make a dramatic difference in the ambiance and feel of a party by doing little easy things. These can completely change the event from being an amateur party to a professional one. I believe in making everything you can yourself and these picture inspiration I’ve posted are all things you can do at home!  Try one or all at your next gathering!

It always makes the party go smoothly when you have a seating plan and additionally to the name tag it’s cute to have a little goodie bag (or here: a used can recycled with coloured paper & their cutlery) with something sweet inside!
