Oscars 2015 Red Carpet

Morning Glamourites,

Last night was the 87th Academy Awards where many actors and movies were recognized for their hard work and success. Some of the winners included, Birdman for Best Picture, Julianna Moore for Best Actress in Still Alice, Eddie Redmayne for Best Actor in The Theory of Everything, J.K. Simmons for Best Supporting Actor in Whiplash and John Legend and Common won Best Original Song for “Glory” from Selma. Besides all the golden Oscar awards that were given out, there were countless stunning gowns on the red carpet, which is really what we what to know all about! There were many dresses in bold statement colours such as Rosamund Pike in a Givenchy red gown and Scarlett Johnansson in an emerald Versace dress. Both were popular colours of the evening but not THE trend of the night; this, however, was light shades, from pure white to bronze nude tones. Emma Stone wasn’t exactly in white but looked absolutely stunning in an Elie Saab chartreuse shade dress which could be the most talked about fashion piece last night.

Oh J-Lo, always giving us something to talk about…and last night was no exception for her fashion choice. Her Elie Saab sparkly nude dress with a plunging neckline probably had more material then all the other dresses combined, it proved to be a challenge walking off stage but she pulled it off.

Had to share a funny picture with you all from last night of tight embrace between Emma and Jennifer Aniston who was wearing Atelier Versace.

Grammys // 2015

Hello Glamourites,

If you didn’t watch the 57th annual Grammy Awards tonight, (or want a recap) I have for you the best dressed, worst dressed, trending colours and makeup looks for you! There are many stars who attend this evening and it is hard to pick out a select few from all the gorgeous gowns and suits! Take note, I would have included many more if I wanted to make this post similar to a novel.

BEST

I am coming from a very non-basis corner as I am not one of the screaming T-swift fans, however I fell immediately in love with her dress choice tonight! Her teal gown designed by Elie Saab was both sophisticated, edgy and classic with the window front showing off her legs and Giuseppe Zanotti fuchsia heels. The matching Lorraine Schwartz earrings in an aqua shade made her blue eyes jump out!

Katy ALWAYS puts her own twist into every look and this one is no different. I am happy that she didn’t go for the complete shock factor but still stood out with a semi-nude dress with glitter fringes, saying she “just wanted to shine bright like a diamond” jokingly to Ryan Seacrest. Adding to this she had statement chandelier earrings and her beautiful lavender hair.

Ciara is typically not on my radar but tonight she most certainly was. She wore a one-shoulder ruffled gown by Alexandre Vauthier made with sheer black material creating a draping train.  

Chrissy Teigen looked stunning in a fitted Gucci gown with subtle cutouts from top to bottom. She a definition of a fashionista! 

MAKEUP

Trending makeup this year at the Grammys generally was very understated in natural style, which I appreciated and found much more beautiful than being caked in products.

Beyonce showcases this beauty look perfectly, as Queen B only would. She looked fresh, bright and truly like a natural goddess! She was dressed in a custom black Proenza Schouler gown. 

Gwen also followed this trend with a clean face, simple tinted lip gloss to allow her dramatic jumpsuit by Atelier Versace to be the focus.

TRY AGAIN

Rihanna, I’m sorry, I respect your style but unfortunately this dress I cannot deal with. 

Iggy you were on point with your Armani Privé dress in the popular blue tonight but the hair needs something different. This just reminds me of a birds nest. 

COLOURS

To finish up it’s Pharrell in Adidas who is following with the influencing colours of the night including black, blue shades and white. To mention a few in black gowns this year was, Nicki Minaj, Miley Cyrus, Meghan Trainor, Jessie J, Kelly Osbourne and many others.  

Your Inner Snowman

Good Afternoon Glamourites!

Today I’m in a wintery mood as the snowflakes are all I can see when I look out my window! Also I seem to be obsessed lately with everything white, according to my pinterest board. I find during these long winter months I want to create my own light and by wearing a pop of colour, or in this case white, your day immediately feels not so gloomy. I know some may say that wearing white anytime after Labour day is basically a crime but I say go for it! Life is too short to not wear what makes you feel your best. I hope everyone is keeping warm and that you will all embrace your inner snowman this week!

The use of mixing textures with this outfit is on point; adore the knit and jacket blazer combo! 

The perfect outfit to be comfy but still feel acceptable to go outside ~ try mixing shades of white for top and bottoms. 

Here’s my beauty inspiration for white: line your eyes with a white liner or shadow to make them pop!

Add one item that’s not white to make the rest of your outfit really stand out ~black and white, forever a classic.

I’m obsessed with this nail colour, it looks like snowflakes on your hand!

Try mixing in white with a print or pattern for more geometric appeal.

Winter White

I hope everyone had a successful week and have some fun plans for the weekend! Unfortunately the temperature here is too cold for me outside to be motivated to go outside and do anything. Instead I decided to put together this post about using white in your design choice for the house. Many people are intimidated by white because they are afraid of it looking boring or giving off a cold feeling. However, using the appropriate textures and shades of white, dependent on the space it can feel extremely cozy and elegant. Take a look at some inspiration pictures I pulled from pinterest and maybe you will dare to try to go white!

For this kitchen the white cupboards are accented perfectly against the black counter top and the beautiful silver wall tiling. Using these bold colours will be enough of a statement without having to accessorize the kitchen at all which inevitably clutters up space.

White in the bedroom may seem like a huge hassle but it is well worth it! You will feel as if you are in your private hotel suite every night and it also allows you to change up throw pillows or other accessories seasonally for something new.

I don’t think anyone could argue they wouldn’t want to curl up in this living room for an intimate night in.

Using white marble in the bathroom allows for easy clean up after bath time and will bring your mind to another place while you relax during your “me” time.

If you are still hesitant about going the all white route, you can add a statement piece in the room, done below with emerald bar chairs.

Simple yet Striking

Sometimes we look over the smaller or less noticeable things around us and never think what they could be turned into. By pairing simple and bold objects or design together you get a beautiful outcome. Like having black and white together, completely opposite but work perfectly and compliment each other. A regular white couch is fine, nothing exciting…add an oversize art piece behind, bam!

This room may have been a tad average but once adding the full height door windows adds a sense of theatric. I love the contrast here between the rough old brick wall and natural floor against the floral colourful bed ensemble.

White on white? Add the detailed headboard and you really have a statement made.

The bold colours and textures used in this bedroom with the clean and straight structure lines make a large impact.

Skipping to Summer Style

Hi Glamourites,

I don’t know about you but I am more than ready for every day to be filled with hot sun, sand between my toes, and  a cold drink in my hand. Bring on summer! We have had a day or two of sunshine but I’m ready for Spring to pass along the torch to Summer! In saying that, I was hoping to do a wardrobe update and add some summer dresses. The perfect beach dress to throw in your bag to use after a day at the beach!

During summer it’s fun to add bright colours to your closet – somehow it makes you feel energized.

You can never go wrong with a little white dress anywhere and anytime in summer! The back scoop and lace adds a beautiful effect.

The Vintage S’more

Hello Glamourites!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful and beautiful May, I love that spring is finally here! If you are starting to crave some of those roasted s’mores by the fire here is an easy recipe for you to make at home! Follow the recipe below and treat yourself this weekend 🙂 xx Glamour Planner

Ingredients:

• 6 gluten free graham cookies (roughly 1 Cup crushed/pulsed in food processor into crumbs). If you don’t have any, use 1 cup of gluten free quick oats, or 1 cup regular graham crumbs. 
• 2/3 Cup unsweetened shredded coconut
• 1/3 Cup butter, melted
• 1 Egg white
• 1 Jar marshmallow fluff
• 3 1/2 Cups chocolate chips
• 1 Tbsp butter

Method:
1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F

2. Grease the short ends of a a 9×13 baking pan with butter, then line the pan with parchment, leaving “handles” hanging over the long ends. Set aside

3.In a medium sized bowl combine the cookie crumbs (or oats), coconut, melted butter and egg white. Press into the prepared baking pan.

4. Bake for 19-21 minutes, until you have a nice golden colour.

5. As the bottom bakes, place the chocolate chips and 1 tbsp of butter into a sauce pan, or in a microwavable bowl, and warm (stirring every so often) until melted and smooth. Let cool slightly.

6. Just before the bottom is done baking, warm the mallow fluff, either by warming it in it’s jar in the microwave (with the lid and protective seal removed), or by emptying the fluff into a small sauce pan on the stove and warming.

7. When the bottom is finished baking, take it out of the oven, and place it onto a cooling rack. Plop down blobs of the marshmallow fluff over the base, then gently spread around to cover it.

8. Drizzle the melted (and slightly cooled) chocolate over the marshmallow fluff, and very gently spread around.

9. Leave this to set in the fridge for about 2 hours. Then, take it out of the fridge and allow to soften oh so slightly (the chocolate top can be tricky to cut without smoooshing the mallow fluff out. I keep thinking that if you score the top after it’s starting to set in the fridge {maybe after an hour?|, that it would really make cutting them easier). Using a hot knife, cut into squares and devour! Or share with others if you must….

Dreaming in White

Recently as the weather has started to improve (here in Ontario that has meant going into the positives instead of negatives), all I have been able to think of is when I can start pulling out my spring wardrobe! Fresh + Clean

Hello Glamourites!

I hope everyone is having an enjoyable weekend and taking some down time to relax and recharge. My weekend has been fairly quiet but also with a little fun of course. It has been freezing here which doesn’t make it very enjoyable to leave the apartment. With it being January we are always reminded about new beginnings and starting fresh…I have taken that same outlook and applied it to design and possible room interiors. If we have a clean environment, it will rub off on us and encourage us to be the same way. Hope you get some inspiration from these pictures xx Glamour Planner

The contrast between bold and simple in this living space is ideal, the straight lines from the chair frames, circle table and window rectangles. Then the juxtaposition using the black and white to make a dramatic but while still clean atmosphere.

This bedroom makes me feel I am taken back a few centuries. The detailing in the moulding and the bed posts are beautifully rich and gives this a pristine vintage look. 

For a smaller{ish} living room space this is made very grand, thanks mainly to the high ceiling which also allows too for the dramatic  chandelier. In this case, where the room is smaller and gets an abundant amount of natural light, having only black & white is perfect. 

On a smaller scale, an office desk can feel much more organized and clean if it has a neutral colour pallet. Also consistency for supplies and accessories helps with the visual aesthetic of the space.     

The bathroom is a very important room as it is the first place you go after waking up. You want that room to make you feel fresh and therefore come across that way in the design. Here the simple lines and warm tones from the wood create a welcoming and awakening area.
