Hello Glamourites!

I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend and enjoying the sunshine before we all get back into that real life routine! boo. A few days ago I decided to make some cookies, but since my sister has been recently diagnosed with many allergies, I altered the recipe so that she could eat them as well! They are dairy free, gluten free and sugar free cookies AND they taste delicious!

Put it up

6 Mar

Hello Glamourites,

It’s friday! That means you have no reason to not be happy today, okay unless you work weekends, but I still hope you all have some fun things planned. During the winter season I find I get really bored with my hair and it’s gets hard to style because as soon as I get outside it’s wrecked from the snow or my toque. I’ve tried new ways of putting my hair up in a ponytail or braid and adding my own twist on the look. Here are some inspiration pictures I’ve used and some new ones I will be attempting to try. Let me know what your “go to” hair do is!

xx Glamour Planner

Add some drama to the ordinary pony by teasing the hair like crazy!throwitup

This is a half fishtail braid which is quick to do and leaves some hair hanging if you don’t want it all up.

throwitup3

The classic ponytail with a statement accessory; I still need to find something like this!

throwitup2

Start with a side braid bringing it to the back and into a loose bun for a casual errand day.

throwitup4

Don’t think you have to pull out the straightener and blow dryer to prep for your early meeting; put your hair in a low bun that still looks professional.

Happy Weekend Glamourites!

I realized I have been posting mainly fashion topics the past few weeks, probably because there has been lots happening in the fashion world, however I wanted to change it up. I found this recipe a week or so ago and have been dying to try it myself but haven’t had the time – hopefully this weekend! If you like goat cheese, and I know I will eat it on anything, then you will love this chicken dish. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and try something new in the kitchen or out of the kitchen!

An Apple a day…

Morning Glamourites!

Okay my title was slightly misleading…yes, I am giving you a recipe with apples in it but it may not be the healthiest of recipes. Guilty. Let’s be honest though, you need a delicious cinnamon bun recipe for the weekend to indulge in! I have been craving them lately and haven’t had any since Christmas break when my Mom made them for the family. I have always been a little nervous to make them by myself from scratch, but from watching my own Mom make them and reading some recipes, they really aren’t that bad. You just need time;  the waiting around to let the dough rise and then the cooking time can be a little annoying. This particular recipe caught my eye because it calls for apples, raisins and walnuts; not sure about the nuts but I love the idea of apple! Give it a try this coming weekend, with or without the nuts, or add your own new ingredient.

The Vintage S’more

23 May

Hello Glamourites!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful and beautiful May, I love that spring is finally here! If you are starting to crave some of those roasted s’mores by the fire here is an easy recipe for you to make at home! Follow the recipe below and treat yourself this weekend 🙂 xx Glamour Planner

SmoreIngredients:

  • 6 gluten free graham cookies (roughly 1 Cup crushed/pulsed in food processor into crumbs). If you don’t have any, use 1 cup of gluten free quick oats, or 1 cup regular graham crumbs.
  • 2/3 Cup unsweetened shredded coconut
  • 1/3 Cup butter, melted
  • 1 Egg white
  • 1 Jar marshmallow fluff
  • 3 1/2 Cups chocolate chips
  • 1 Tbsp butter

Method:
1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F

2. Grease the short ends of a a 9×13 baking pan with butter, then line the pan with parchment, leaving “handles” hanging over the long ends. Set aside

3.In a medium sized bowl combine the cookie crumbs (or oats), coconut, melted butter and egg white. Press into the prepared baking pan.

4. Bake for 19-21 minutes, until you have a nice golden colour.

5. As the bottom bakes, place the chocolate chips and 1 tbsp of butter into a sauce pan, or in a microwavable bowl, and warm (stirring every so often) until melted and smooth. Let cool slightly.

6. Just before the bottom is done baking, warm the mallow fluff, either by warming it in it’s jar in the microwave (with the lid and protective seal removed), or by emptying the fluff into a small sauce pan on the stove and warming.

7. When the bottom is finished baking, take it out of the oven, and place it onto a cooling rack. Plop down blobs of the marshmallow fluff over the base, then gently spread around to cover it.

8. Drizzle the melted (and slightly cooled) chocolate over the marshmallow fluff, and very gently spread around.

9. Leave this to set in the fridge for about 2 hours. Then, take it out of the fridge and allow to soften oh so slightly (the chocolate top can be tricky to cut without smoooshing the mallow fluff out. I keep thinking that if you score the top after it’s starting to set in the fridge {maybe after an hour?|, that it would really make cutting them easier). Using a hot knife, cut into squares and devour! Or share with others if you must….

Fresh + Clean

26 Jan

Hello Glamourites!

I hope everyone is having an enjoyable weekend and taking some down time to relax and recharge. My weekend has been fairly quiet but also with a little fun of course. It has been freezing here which doesn’t make it very enjoyable to leave the apartment. With it being January we are always reminded about new beginnings and starting fresh…I have taken that same outlook and applied it to design and possible room interiors. If we have a clean environment, it will rub off on us and encourage us to be the same way. Hope you get some inspiration from these pictures xx Glamour Planner

The contrast between bold and simple in this living space is ideal, the straight lines from the chair frames, circle table and window rectangles. Then the juxtaposition using the black and white to make a dramatic but while still clean atmosphere.

Fresh&Clean

This bedroom makes me feel I am taken back a few centuries. The detailing in the moulding and the bed posts are beautifully rich and gives this a pristine vintage look. Fresh&Clean3

For a smaller{ish} living room space this is made very grand, thanks mainly to the high ceiling which also allows too for the dramatic  chandelier. In this case, where the room is smaller and gets an abundant amount of natural light, having only black & white is perfect. Fresh&Clean2

On a smaller scale, an office desk can feel much more organized and clean if it has a neutral colour pallet. Also consistency for supplies and accessories helps with the visual aesthetic of the space.     Fresh&Clean4

The bathroom is a very important room as it is the first place you go after waking up. You want that room to make you feel fresh and therefore come across that way in the design. Here the simple lines and warm tones from the wood create a welcoming and awakening area.

Savoury Pumpkin

13 Oct

Hello Glamourites,

I hope everyone is having an enjoyable and relaxing thanksgiving weekend {here in Canada anyways}! The one thing I do love about fall is to see all the colours changing in nature with the trees turning all colours of red, orange and yellow. Along with all that we get to curl up inside and drink hot chocolate, eat soup and start to get used to the chilly weather coming. Here is a recipe I found for a Pumpkin Curry Soup thanks to Wine and Glue blog, thanks! Happy Thanksgiving everyone xx Glamour Planner

pumpkinsoup2

Pumpkin Curry Soup

  • 1 small baking pumpkin
  • 2 TBSP butter
  • 1 pound of carrots, peeled and cut into circles
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 1 – 1 1/2 TBSP curry powder (the more you add the more spicy it will be)
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp ground coriander
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups of chicken stock
  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.  Cut the pumpkin in half, remove the seeds, and place each side flesh side down on a parchment (or aluminum foil or silpat) lined baking sheet.  Bake 50 minutes or until you are able to easily slide a skewer in and out of the pumpkin.  After the pumpkin has cooked, scoop out the pumpkin and set aside.
  2. Melt the butter in a large soup pot over medium heat.  Add the carrots and onions and sauté until the onions are nearly translucent and the carrots have softened, about 10 minutes.
  3. Add the pumpkin and stir into the cooking veggies.
  4. Add the curry powder, ginger, and coriander and sauté for an additional minute or two.
  5. Stir in the chicken stock, scraping up the browned bits from the bottom of the pan.  Bring the stock to a boil and then reduce to the heat to low, cover, and let simmer for 30 minutes.
  6. At the end of the 30 minutes, remove the soup from the heat, and using an immersion blender (or working in batches using a blender or food processor) to blend the soup until smooth.
  7. Top with  Croutons

Hello Glamourites!

I hope everyone is having a fun start to your weekend! I’m at my cottage for the weekend and can’t wait to relax and enjoy the beautiful sunshine. What’s especially nice at the end of a long day of watersports and sunbathing is to cozy up in a bed full of pillows or soak in a nice warm bubble bath. It a calming way to wind down after a long week or a particularly busy weekend. These inspiration pictures remind me of the perfect spot just to curl up with a good book or take a cat nap. Go find your cozy spot this weekend xx Glamour Planner

Ingredients

  • CUPCAKES
  • 1 box white cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup lime juice
  • 1/3 cup oil
  • Lime zest of one lime
  • 2-3tbs orange liqueur
  • 3 eggs
  • FROSTING
  • 4 egg whites (at room temperature)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 sticks butter (at room temperature)
  • 1/3 cup strawberry preserves
  • Juice of one lime
  • 2-3 Tbsp. Tequila
  • Pink food coloring
  • Sliced lime & zest for garnish

Instructions

  1. For your cupcakes, preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Mix all ingredients in a large mixing bowl for 2 minutes until thoroughly blended. Place cupcake liners into cupcake pan and fill each cup ¾ full with cake mixture. Bake for 18 mins. Cool completely on a wire rack.
  3. For your frosting, mix the egg whites and sugar in a standing mixer on high for 7-15 minutes, until stiff peaks form.
  4. Turn the mixer to a low speed and add in the butter, strawberry preserves, lime juice, tequila, and food coloring. This will turn the frosting somewhat soupy and separated, but it will come back together after mixing again.
  5. Turn the mixer back up to high and mix for another 3-8 minutes, until icing is fluffy and somewhat stiff. If you’re still having trouble, try putting it in the fridge for 10 mins and then mixing again.
  6. Frost the cupcakes with a large round tip and sprinkle with granulated sugar. Garnish with a slice of lime and a sprinkle of zest. For a little extra kick, you can sprinkle on some sea salt.StrawberryMargaritaCupcake

The DRAMA

3 Jul

Hello Glamourites!

I hope you all had an easy “hump day” Wednesday and excited for the downhill slide to the weekend! (I know I am) Yesterday I saw some very stunning and dramatic design photo’s and concepts. I think adding drama to a room or space is always a great aspect but having it throughout an entire house has to done in the right way or particular layout. These design choices I fell in love with and would love to incorporate them in my own place! Enjoy xx

This central hallway or lobby is UNBELIEVABLE, the combination of the vaulted ceiling, chandelier and continuing with the large window down to the floor detailing makes it.

dramalobby

The villa below, which is located in Lazio, Italy is amazing because of the balance and and central detailing making the initial visual that much more dramatic and eye catching.
dramaVillaLazioItalyIn the staircase there is firstly the attention to the large glass chandelier but as you continue the staircase the focus of the use of lighting and reflection on the floor creates a water feel.

dramalighting

The Unitarian Church located in Charleston, SC has such intricate ceiling detailing and along with the all white makes this 100% drama for the eyes!
