Twist it up

12 Sep

Hello Glamourites,

It’s the end of summer and everyone is slowly getting back to reality with normal school/work routines. I know for me this can sometimes mean I’m feeling a bit rushed or even a tad lazy as I try to get used to the fall routine again. This is why braids are the best hairstyle. There are countless different looks and styles that you can create that won’t take too much time out of your morning. I have only experimented with a few, but there are so many pictures out there that I still want to try. Here are a few that I find straightforward to do, but it will still give you a fun and put together look!

frenchbriadhybrid

French Braid Hybrid    ~ Start by french braiding your hair, then switch to a normal braid for two turns, then French braid again. Alternate between the two braids until you reach the end of your hair. Thanks Byrdie for the pic!

briadknot

Connect The Braids   ~ This is good for when you wake up and don’t have that extra time to shower and get your hair clean and silky.  Braid a piece from each side of your head, stop where they meet in the back, and tie them together.

SideBraid

Side Braid    ~ Start to french braid from the bang section down, keeping it as close to your face as possible. Continue to add small sections to your braid until you reach your neck, then add the rest of your hair into the three sections evenly. Most important is the last step which is to loosen the braid! Thanks Treasures & Travel!

BraidCrown

Braid Crown    ~ My FAVOURITE. You can choose how much hair you want left hanging or put it all up. You can do any size of braid and it is such a statement look.

Put it up

Hello Glamourites,

It’s friday! That means you have no reason to not be happy today, okay unless you work weekends, but I still hope you all have some fun things planned. During the winter season I find I get really bored with my hair and it’s gets hard to style because as soon as I get outside it’s wrecked from the snow or my toque. I’ve tried new ways of putting my hair up in a ponytail or braid and adding my own twist on the look. Here are some inspiration pictures I’ve used and some new ones I will be attempting to try. Let me know what your “go to” hair do is!

Add some drama to the ordinary pony by teasing the hair like crazy!throwitup

This is a half fishtail braid which is quick to do and leaves some hair hanging if you don’t want it all up.

throwitup3

The classic ponytail with a statement accessory; I still need to find something like this!

throwitup2

Start with a side braid bringing it to the back and into a loose bun for a casual errand day.

Don’t think you have to pull out the straightener and blow dryer to prep for your early meeting; put your hair in a low bun that still looks professional.

Oscars 2015 Red Carpet

23 Feb

Morning Glamourites,

Last night was the 87th Academy Awards where many actors and movies were recognized for their hard work and success. Some of the winners included, Birdman for Best Picture, Julianna Moore for Best Actress in Still Alice, Eddie Redmayne for Best Actor in The Theory of Everything, J.K. Simmons for Best Supporting Actor in Whiplash and John Legend and Common won Best Original Song for “Glory” from Selma. Besides all the golden Oscar awards that were given out, there were countless stunning gowns on the red carpet, which is really what we what to know all about! There were many dresses in bold statement colours such as Rosamund Pike in a Givenchy red gown and Scarlett Johnansson in an emerald Versace dress. Both were popular colours of the evening but not THE trend of the night; this, however, was light shades, from pure white to bronze nude tones. I put together a collection of my picks from last night for you to browse and enjoy xx Glamour Planner

Gwyneth Paltrow in a pale pink Ralph & Russo fitted gown, obsessed with the rose shoulder!

Lupita Nyong’o wearing a custom Calvin Klein with over 6000 pearls!

Kerry Washington wearing Miu Miu with a sophisticated and elegant shape.

Emma Stone wasn’t exactly in white but looked absolutely stunning in an Elie Saab chartreuse shade dress which could be the most talked about fashion piece last night.

Oscars2015Emma

Reese Witherspoon in a custom Tom Ford dress – hugs her body perfectly!

Oscars2015Reese

Oh J-Lo, always giving us something to talk about…and last night was no exception for her fashion choice. Her Elie Saab sparkly nude dress with a plunging neckline probably had more material then all the other dresses combined, it proved to be a challenge walking off stage but she pulled it off.

Had to share a funny picture with you all from last night of tight embrace between Emma and Jennifer Aniston who was wearing Atelier Versace.

Roaring Outfits

1 Feb

Hi Glamourites,

As I have previously stated I am definitely not a diehard football fan, however I do tune into the Superbowl to watch the famous half time show. This year the main act was Katy Perry along with Lenny Kravitz and Missy Eliott! I decided to do a post on Katy’s clothing choices, especially considering how impressive it was that in the 12 and half minute performance she pulled off four different outfits! I have always enjoyed following Katy’s fashion statements, I don’t always love them but I always admire her boldness and risk for trying the unexpected.

Hope you all had a relaxing Sunday whether you watched the super bowl or watching the good wife 😉

The dramatic entrance for the performance was extremely strong.katy2Her outfit was a 2 piece gold, orange and red fiery inspiration with 3D flames off the shoulders. Completed with her classic high pony, strong eyes and red lips.

Outfit #2: Between the dancing sharks, beach balls and palm trees Katy dressed in a beachball motif bustier set with the beachball bra and sparkly custom LaDuca boots with 12,600 Swarovski crystals which were wore through out the performance.

katy3

Outfit #3: With her performance with Missy she wore a simple jersey style zip up with 49 on the front symbolizing the 49th SuperBowl and her name on the back…plus lots of embroidered diamonds.

Outfit #4: My favourite by far (I wonder why…bling bling)! For the final song Fireworks Katy is lifted up wearing an eye catching glitter ball gown designed by Jeremy Scott. Between all her outfits there were over 22,000 crystals.

Your Inner Snowman

29 Jan

Good Afternoon Glamourites!

Today I’m in a wintery mood as the snowflakes are all I can see when I look out my window! Also I seem to be obsessed lately with everything white, according to my pinterest board. I find during these long winter months I want to create my own light and by wearing a pop of colour, or in this case white, your day immediately feels not so gloomy. I know some may say that wearing white anytime after Labour day is basically a crime but I say go for it! Life is too short to not wear what makes you feel your best. I hope everyone is keeping warm and that you will all embrace your inner snowman this week!

xx Glamour Planner

The use of mixing textures with this outfit is on point; adore the knit and jacket blazer combo! snowman

The perfect outfit to be comfy but still feel acceptable to go outside ~ try mixing shades of white for top and bottoms. snowman2

Here’s my beauty inspiration for white: line your eyes with a white liner or shadow to make them pop!

snowman3

Add one item that’s not white to make the rest of your outfit really stand out ~black and white, forever a classic.

I’m obsessed with this nail colour, it looks like snowflakes on your hand!

Try mixing in white with a print or pattern for more geometric appeal.

Balmy and Beautiful

28 Dec

Hello Glamourites,

I know for me I always want to be stylishly dressed whenever I leave the house but that can be difficult during the winter months when the temperature drops. I’ve compiled some outfit ideas that you can take inspiration from to keep warm and still look fashionable! It’s been a fairly warm Christmas where I have been but I have a feeling after New Years we’ll be in for some cold days ahead…I’m definitely not looking forward to that. Personally I wish it was summer all year, guess I gotta move to Hawaii if I ever hope to get that. Hope you all are having a fun and relaxing holiday xx Glamour Planner

A sweater such as this, made of wool or polyester is the best type of fabric to go with for winter as it keeps the moisture out and the warm air in. You may assume cotton is another smart choice to go with, think again, it is an extremely absorbent material and will soak up all the moisture around you. Pick a unique colour as it will stand out and add some personality to an otherwise typical grandma sweater. balmy_sweater

LAYERS. One of the most efficient ways to dress I find. With my temperature issues, too cold when outside and overheating once inside it is easy to shed a layer or two depending on how hot/cold it is. Plus you can mix and match all sorts of colours and patterns making for an exciting outfit!

balmy_layers

Purchasing a signature winter coat can be all you need to spice up an outfit if you are out walking the streets running errands. A colour like this plum burgundy is a beautiful shade for the dull days of winter.

A fur vest of any type is an excellent addition to an outfit as it creates an instant elegance that is effortless and keeps your core body warm and cozy through the day!

My ABSOLUTE favourite winter accessory/secret is scarfs. I have a huge plaid scarf with about 5 different colours that goes with anything and everything I’m wearing and when I open it up it’s as large as a blanket. Having that around my neck it just about doesn’t matter what else I have on I will be sure to be toasty warm!

Skipping to Summer Style

29 May

Hi Glamourites,

I don’t know about you but I am more than ready for every day to be filled with hot sun, sand between my toes, and  a cold drink in my hand. Bring on summer! We have had a day or two of sunshine but I’m ready for Spring to pass along the torch to Summer! In saying that, I was hoping to do a wardrobe update and add some summer dresses. On a hot summer day or evening it’s so easy to slip on a dress and always looks very put together and cute! Here are some of my favourites – check them out xx Glamour Planner

The perfect beach dress to throw in your bag to use after a day at the beach!

Dreaming in White

5 Apr

Hi Glamourites,

Recently as the weather has started to improve (here in Ontario that has meant going into the positives instead of negatives), all I have been able to think of is when I can start pulling out my spring wardrobe! Here are some pieces that I hope to purchase and take inspiration from. Hope everyone is enjoying some spring weather xx Glamour Planner

Has Spring Sprung Yet?

11 Mar

Hello Glamourites,

Clearly I have been MIA the past month…probably wallowing in my winter depression! In my opinion, it stayed WAY over its welcome; it’s March already mr. weather. On that note, I have obviously been looking  into spring trends and outfit inspirations to keep me calm. Check out the pictures below for the Spring 2014 trend insights taken from the Paris runway during Fashion Week. Hope everyone is having a great week xx Glamour Planner

The wide-leg pant is back! They are easy to wear and ultra-chic; billowy wide-leg trousers are making a come back on  the spring runways and streets.Springwideleg

All heights can wear these pants, not just the 6 foot models. If you are shorter look for slimmer on the flare and appropriate high waisted length. Springwideleg2

Contrast collar button downs are the new essential. Inspired by men’s dress shirt bringing in contrasting colours, textures or patterns, it’s a simple way to spice up your work outfit.  Springbuttondown

How adorable are the Tea-length skirts, somewhere between the length of maxi and midi (just below the knee). This length works perfect for any spring afternoon!
SpringTeaSkirt

The ladylike hemline can be as modern as the midi depending what you pair it with, could be a cropped top which will accentuate your height!

SpringTeaSkirt2

The last inspiration for today is the introduction of the tuxedo trouser with a mix of the athletic pant making this sporty and comfy but still looking smart and sophisticated. Also try a streamlined silhouette in a unexpected white or reverse tuxedo.

Winter Warm

23 Jan

Hi Glamourites,

Well here in Toronto the temperatures have dropped in the extreme negatives making it very unpleasant whenever you must go outside. This makes it hard when putting an outfit together as I have discovered it can be tricky to look fashionable but still staying warm! Here are some pictures I have put together of outfits that look stylish but won’t let you freeze in the cold weather. Of course most of these you will still need a heavy jacket…but you get the idea.  xx Glamour Planner

I love this because sweater dresses are extremely comfortable {and reasonable} while being good source of heat but by spicing it up with a statement belt you turn this into chic. Warm|black

Who says you can’t wear white in the winter? It can definitely be pulled off, the oversized long sweater works here because the colour dresses it up while still being comfy and warm. Warm|white

Possibly my only favourite thing of cold weather…SCARVES. There are a million and one options with different patterns, shapes and colours for everyone’s personal style. Warm|scarf

This is an adorable look for a date perhaps, skirt is keeping it girly while the baggy sweater is staying casual and high socks {again} for not freezing. Warm|skirt

Fancy lunch date, no problem. Short sweater dress with some high heel boots and statement necklace, done. Warm|dress
